Reading the article from Gayle B. Ronan an MSNBC contributor about retirement it tells us that “sixty is the new forty”. Retirees are going back to work. Is it for the money or out of boredom? According to the article many retirees go back to work because they do not know what else to do with their lives. Most are financially stable, but some do need to go back to work for the income. The ones that did return for financial stability were concerned about the costs of health care and want to make sure they can pay for it. The others go to work to have some physical activity in their lives, mental stimulation and for the social aspect of it. Working in a time when you could be spending it on leisure is odd for someone of my age. I feel the retired going back to work helps the economy out in one respect, but on the other hand also hurts it. It is a help in that with these people making more money they will in return put more money back into the economy and also could help with governmental health insurance because they may have enough money to pay for their own insurance instead of relying on the government. On the other hand I feel it is not helping because now other people will be out of a job if they were looking for a job. In my opinion I would hire someone who has experience in the work force over let’s say a teenager. I feel this way because someone of that age is more responsible and most have better social skills.
