How admired companies find the best talent

How admired companies find the best talent
Certain companies are known for their exceptional people skills. How do these companies find the best management for their corporation? This question is discussed by Anne Fisher, a writer for Fortune magazine in New York City. The talent pool has never been stronger, and a recent survey by salary.com has stated that as much as 80% of employees who currently have jobs are looking to move up the corporate ladder by looking for new jobs that would increase their salary. Companies such as Procter and Gamble, Starbucks, Google, and Pepsico might all be significantly different in their nature of business, but they all share common characteristics.
These characteristics include open communication on all types of levels, and all their employees are expected to contribute a great deal. They are then rewarded through promotions and salary increases if they are willing to put in the necessary time to show hard work and dedication towards the company. These companies have very low rates of turnover because they promote from within the company, and this shows the employee that if they are willing to work hard from one year to the next, promotions are in the near future and there is no need to company jump looking for better opportunities. Hiring from within a corporation is great, as long as you hire the right people in the first place. Thus, there is a stronger emphasis towards hiring the right person that fits the company’s needs and goals.
I feel that all of these attributes are great in the business world, but promoting within provides incentives for the employees of the corporation. Incentives not only keep employees on staff for an increased period of time, but they provide more loyalty, a harder worth ethic, and show that the future might be worth waiting around for instead of company jumping to the next best job.

I agree with Dean to a certain extent on hiring from inside the corporation to create great incentive to the works to work harder. On the other hand though you are now selecting from a small talent pool when there are thousands of other people out there that may be better for the job and help the compay more. There are so many people graduating college and going for their masters that the pool keeps expanding.
