Opening Trade with Afghanistan

By signing the trade and investment framework with Afghanistan the United States is taking a major step forward in improving its relations with other countries throughout the middle east. With this framework intact the US can begin to work together with the Afghanistan government to help improve not only the framework of the country but also the lives of the Afghanistan people. Now that the agreement has been signed the two countries will have a joint council that will determine the trade agreements between the two nations. President Bush also designated Afghanistan a participant in the Generalized System of preferences that will keep the tariffs on Afghan products small so they can compete in our economy. With this new line of trade being opened not only will we benefit from exporting to Afghanistan the Afghan people will also benefit by having products in there country they were never allowed to have before. By signing this agreement the United States is showing that they are willing to help redevelop and help these countries throughout the middle east.
