China accession into WTO

September 17, 2001, was a glorious day on behalf the world trade. After 15 long years of negotiations, China and the WTO have finally come to terms of agreement for China's entry into the WTO. http://www.wto.org/english/news_e/pres01_e/pr243_e.htm Some countries believed that china would never join the WTO due to some conflicts between Chinese government and WTO regulations. although there are still conlficts between the regulations, part of the agreement was for China to change some of its governmential aspects on trade. On November 10, 2001, China offically became part of the WTO. http://www.wto.org/english/news_e/pres01_e/pr252_e.htm Some of the changes took place imidiately after they became a member and some have been phased in over three years.
